The Oregon Coast is a magical place filled with amazing views, a unique coastal culture, and lots of small towns to explore. This is a region filled with rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and wonderful hiking opportunities. You can spend even more time in nature when you plan a camping trip here.

South Beach State Park Campground, Newport

There are lots of state parks in the coastal region of Oregon that make excellent places for hiking, camping, and hanging out on the beach. For example, South Beach State Park is next to the Yaquina Bay Bridge and by the town of Newport. The campground at the park is open year-around and has 227 sites with electric and water service, 60 tent sites, and 27 yurts, and three group tent camps. The campground also has flush toilets, showers, firewood for sale, and a dump station. There is paved trail at the park that’s great for jogging and biking. Other activities to do at the park include fishing, boating, surfing, beach combing, paddling the marsh in a kayak or canoe, and seeing the nearby lighthouses.

Tillicum Beach Campground, Siuslaw National Forest, Yachats

The Tillicum Beach Campground is located in Siuslaw National Forest and a popular place to camp along the coast. Many of the 61 campsites here have beachfront views, and a few of the sites have electric and water hookups. However, the hookup sites are not on the waterfront. Sites have picnic tables and campfire rings, while drinking water and flush toilets are nearby. The campground does not have showers though. Stay here to visit Cape Perpetua close by and to surf, swim, and play in the sand on your trip.

Harris Beach State Park Campground, Brookings

You can stay at Harris Beach State Park on the rugged south coast of Oregon and enjoy trails, beaches, and rocky outcroppings. There is year-around camping here, although some campground loops close for the winter. In total, there are 65 full hookup sites, 25 sites with electric and water only, 59 tent sites with water nearby, and six yurts (three of which are pet-friendly). This camping area also offers hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, playground, and firewood for sale. Check out Bird Island while you’re here and also Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor nearby.

Wright's for Camping, Cannon Beach

Here’s a private campground that’s family-run and that specializes in tent camping. It has 22 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. There are also restrooms with showers and laundry facilities here. Wright’s for Camping is a pet-friendly campground that is open for camping from May through October. This place accepts RVs in some of the tent sites but does not have any hookups.

Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park Campground, Near Florence

Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park is two miles from the ocean and known for its iconic sand dunes. There are lots of hiking trails in this area, as well as boat rentals on Cleawox Lake and Rhododendrons in bloom in the spring. When you camp here, it’s fun to spend time on the two freshwater lakes that offer fishing and water sport opportunities. The campground has about 45 full hookup sites, over 120 sites with just electric and water, more than 185 tent sites with water close by, 10 rustic yurt (one that’s pet-friendly), and six seasonal group tent camping areas.

There’s a large campground at Beverly Beach State Park with sites that are just steps from the ocean beach. People often come here for whale-watching. The campground has plenty of trees and is along Spencer Creek. There’s a welcome center that sells firewood and souvenirs, as well as a playground and picnic area nearby. This campground has 53 full hookup sites (27 of them with cable TV), 76 sites with water and electric only, 128 tent sites, 21 yurts, and three seasonal group tent camping areas. There’s also a dump station, flush toilets, and showers for campers to use.

Waxmyrtle Campground, Siuslaw National Forest, Near Florence

About eight miles south of Florence, Oregon, you’ll find the Waxmyrtle Campground in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The campground is by the beach, hiking trails, and open dune areas that don’t allow motorized vehicles. Camping is available between May and September. It has standard, non-electric sites with no hookups. However, campers can use the facility’s flush toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and drinking water. Popular trails to hike in the area are the Waxmyrtle Trail, Lagoon Trail, and Chief Tsiltcoos Trail.

Oregon Coast RV Resort, Winchester Bay

Another private campground to consider for your Oregon Coast vacation is the Oregon Coast RV Resort, which is just two minutes from the Winchester Bay Marina and adjacent to the 101 freeway. This is a Central Oregon destination where you can enjoy fishing and crabbing on the Umpqua River inlet. Meanwhile, the Oregon Coastal Dunes are just five minutes away and great for riding your ATV. This campground has a small store with a coffee bar and snacks. For RVs, it has large pull-through sites with 30-amp service, water, sewer, cable, and free internet. Public restrooms and a community fire pit are also onsite.

Umpqua Lighthouse State Park Campground, Near Florence

You can stay overnight at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park for your coastal adventures and be less than a mile from the Salmon Harbor Marina on Winchester Bay. It has a small, quiet campground that accommodates tents and RVs. There are 12 full hookup sites, eight sites with just water and electric, and 23 tent sites here. Flush toilets and showers are also available. For a glamping trip, you can stay in one of the yurts or log cabins. Visit the Umpqua River Lighthouse a half-mile from the park and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area nearby too.

Another coastal option is to camp at the Beachside State Recreation Site that is a few miles south of Waldport and has a small campground that’s open from March through October. It has 32 electric and water sites, 42 tent sites, and two yurts. The campground also has flush toilets, hot showers, and firewood for sale. All of the campsites here are just seconds from the beach. It’s a fun area to fly a kite, watch the sunset, and call this park your home base while you explore the hiking trails, tide pools, lighthouses, and driving tours in the region.

Year-around camping is available at the Bullards Beach State Park, where there are 103 full hookup sites, 82 electric and water only sites, 13 yurts, and a horse camp with eight primitive sites. This is a family-friendly park at the mouth of the Coquille River and nestled among the pine trees. You can spend your days riding horses, crabbing in the river, and taking walks on the beach. There’s a mostly-paved path from the campground to the beach that you can walk or bike along. The town of Bandon is nearby to check out galleries and restaurants.

Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park Campground, Near Florence

Here’s another Oregon State Park campground and one that has 41 full hookup sites, 14 electric and water only sites, seven walk-in tent sites, and two yurts. The Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park campground also offers flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and firewood for sale. This campground is about 10 miles south of Cape Perpetua, in the Siuslaw National Forest, and on the east side of Highway 101. There are trailheads at the north and south ends of the campground to take you into the coastal forest and to the sandy beach.

At Fort Stevens State Park, you’ll find approximately 170 full hookup sites, more than 300 electric and water sites, six tent sites, 15 rustic yurts, and 11 deluxe cabins. This park was once a military defense installation and fort that was in operation between the Civil War and World War II. Now, it’s a 4,200-acre park with lots of recreation opportunities. In addition to camping, this park is also great for riding on paved bike trails, swimming, boating, seeing a historic shipwreck, and viewing wildlife.

The Nehalem Bay State Park has a year-around campground with 265 electric and water sites, 18 yurts, and a horse camp with 17 primitive sites. There are flush toilets and showers for campers, as well as an airport camp with primitive fly-in campsites! This campground is along the shore pines and just a sand dune away from the beach. Other facilities are a playground and RV dump station. There’s a 1.8-mile bike path that gives you great views of the bay. Popular things to do while camping here are kayaking, crabbing, clamming, and fishing. Local businesses offer kayak tours and guided horseback rides.
